Amstrad ALT-286 a ALT-386SX, Anglie, 1990. Dva téměř shodné přenosné počítače používají stejnou skříň, displej, napájení, baterii i část elektroniky, liší se hlavně procesorovou deskou. ALT-286 používá Intel 80286 a ALT-386SX Intel 80386SX, oba na 16 MHz s možností přepnutí na 8 MHz. Standardní RAM má 1 MB a lze ji rozšířit na 2 nebo 4 MB. Podsvícený VGA LCD má 640 × 480 bodů a 32 stupňů šedi. ALT-286 se dodával s 20MB pevným diskem, ALT-386SX se 40MB diskem, oba mají 1,44MB 3,5palcovou mechaniku. Výbavu doplňuje jeden 16bitový rozšiřující slot, dva sériové porty, paralelní port, VGA výstup a konektor pro externí klávesnici. Odnímatelný NiCd akumulátor umožňuje zhruba dvě hodiny provozu.

Amstrad ALT-286 and ALT-386SX, England, 1990. These two closely related portable PCs share the same case, display, power system, battery and much of their electronics, differing mainly in the processor board. The ALT-286 uses an Intel 80286 and the ALT-386SX an Intel 80386SX, both at 16 MHz and switchable to 8 MHz. Standard RAM is 1 MB, expandable to 2 or 4 MB. The backlit VGA LCD provides 640 × 480 pixels with 32 grey levels. The ALT-286 was specified with a 20 MB hard disk and the ALT-386SX with 40 MB, while both have a 1.44 MB 3.5 inch floppy drive. Expansion includes one 16 bit slot, two serial ports, a parallel port, VGA output and external keyboard connection. The removable NiCd battery provides about two hours of operation.

Ve sbírce mám oba modely, Amstrad ALT-286 i ALT-386SX. Oba počítače jsem vyčistil a nahrál na ně MS-DOS. U jednoho z nich se původní NiCd baterie nedochovala, jinak nebyla nutná žádná větší oprava. Oba laptopy jsou dnes plně funkční.

I have both models in the collection, the Amstrad ALT-286 and ALT-386SX. I cleaned both computers and installed MS-DOS on them. The original NiCd battery is no longer present in one of the two machines, but otherwise no major repair was required. Both laptops are now fully operational.
