Commodore 16, USA, 1984. Levný domácí počítač řady 264 byl navržen jako nástupce VIC-20 pro cenovou hladinu pod 100 dolarů. Používá procesor MOS 7501 nebo pozdější 8501, 16 KB RAM a 32 KB ROM s KERNALem, znakovou sadou a výrazně vylepšeným BASICem 3.5. Základnímu BASICu zůstává 12 277 bajtů volné paměti. Čip TED 8360 sdružuje grafiku, zvuk, časovače i část systémové logiky. Nabízí 40 × 25 znaků, grafiku až 320 × 200 a paletu 121 barev, ale proti C64 nemá hardwarové sprity. Zvuk má dva nezávislé kanály a šum. Procesor podle přístupu TEDu k paměti střídá přibližně 0,885 a 1,77 MHz. C16 používá odlišné konektory pro kazetový magnetofon a joysticky než C64, ale zachovává sériovou IEC sběrnici. V USA se prodával za 99 dolarů, v západním Německu přibližně za 249 DM.

Commodore 16, USA, 1984. This low cost member of the 264 series was designed as a VIC-20 successor for the sub US$100 market. It uses a MOS 7501 or later 8501 processor, 16 KB RAM and 32 KB ROM containing the KERNAL, character set and substantially improved BASIC 3.5. BASIC starts with 12,277 bytes free. The TED 8360 combines video, sound, timers and part of the system logic. It provides 40 × 25 text, graphics up to 320 × 200 and a 121 colour palette, but unlike the C64 it has no hardware sprites. Audio offers two independent channels plus noise. Depending on TED memory access, the CPU alternates between about 0.885 and 1.77 MHz. The C16 uses different cassette and joystick connectors from the C64 while retaining the Commodore IEC serial bus. It sold for US$99 in the United States and around 249 DM in West Germany.
