Commodore Amiga 500, USA, 1987. Nejrozšířenější domácí Amiga používá Motorolu 68000 na 7,09 MHz v PAL verzi nebo 7,16 MHz v NTSC a standardně 512 KB RAM. Původní stroje používají čipset OCS. Agnus řídí DMA, blitter a Copper, Denise obraz a hardwarové sprity a Paula čtyřkanálový 8bitový zvuk, disketovou mechaniku a další I/O. Vestavěná 3,5palcová DD mechanika ukládá na Amiga disk 880 KB. Spodní trapdoor se běžně používal pro rozšíření o dalších 512 KB, boční 86pinový konektor dovoluje připojit například A590 s pevným diskem a další RAM. První stroje se dodávaly s Kickstartem 1.2, později převládl Kickstart 1.3. Kombinace grafiky, zvuku, multitaskingu a rozsáhlé herní knihovny udělala z A500 jeden z určujících evropských domácích počítačů konce osmdesátých let.

Commodore Amiga 500, USA, 1987. The most widely used home Amiga uses a Motorola 68000 at 7.09 MHz in PAL systems or 7.16 MHz in NTSC and normally includes 512 KB RAM. Original machines use the OCS chipset. Agnus handles DMA, the blitter and Copper, Denise provides video and hardware sprites, while Paula controls four channel 8 bit audio, the floppy drive and additional I/O. The built in 3.5 inch DD drive stores 880 KB on an Amiga formatted disk. The bottom trapdoor was commonly used for another 512 KB, while the 86 pin side expansion connector supports devices such as the A590 hard drive with additional RAM. Early systems shipped with Kickstart 1.2 and later production generally used Kickstart 1.3. Its graphics, sound, multitasking operating system and huge software library made the A500 one of Europe's defining home computers of the late 1980s.
