Compaq Portable 286, USA, 1985. Transportovatelný počítač třídy IBM PC/AT byl uveden 30. dubna 1985. Používá Intel 80286 a umožňuje přepínat rychlost mezi 6 a 8 MHz. Základní konfigurace má 256 KB RAM, model s pevným diskem 640 KB a pomocí paměťových karet lze systém rozšířit přibližně na 2,7 MB. Vestavěná 5,25palcová mechanika používá 1,2MB diskety, vyšší konfigurace přidává 20MB pevný disk. Devítipalcový monochromatický CRT je součástí skříně a počítač nabízí pět rozšiřujících slotů, z nichž jsou podle konfigurace dva nebo tři volné. Na desce je také patice pro matematický koprocesor 80287. Přes označení Portable nejde o bateriový notebook, ale o těžký síťově napájený kufříkový počítač.

Compaq Portable 286, USA, 1985. This transportable IBM PC/AT class computer was introduced on 30 April 1985. It uses an Intel 80286 and can switch between 6 and 8 MHz. The base configuration has 256 KB RAM, while the hard disk model has 640 KB and memory expansion boards can raise the system to about 2.7 MB. The built in 5.25 inch floppy uses 1.2 MB disks, while higher configurations add a 20 MB hard disk. A 9 inch monochrome CRT is integrated into the case and the computer provides five expansion slots, with two or three free depending on configuration. The motherboard also includes a socket for an 80287 math coprocessor. Despite the Portable name, it is not a battery notebook but a heavy mains powered luggable computer.
