Verze Color Plus se objevuje v roce 1995 s 486DX4/100, standardně 4 MB RAM s možností rozšíření, 540MB IDE diskem, 10,4palcovým aktivním TFT 640 × 480 a 1 MB VRAM. Dobové testované konfigurace měly také 16 MB RAM. Notebook má trackball, 1,44MB floppy, dva PCMCIA sloty, sériový a paralelní port, VGA, PS/2 a dokovací konektor. Z klasického stolního 286 se během několika let stal plnohodnotný barevný notebook.

Olivetti PCS 286 + Echos 48 Color Plus, Italy, 1989/1995. This pairing shows the rapid evolution of personal computers over just six years. The PCS 286 is a compact AT compatible desktop using an Intel 80286 at 12 MHz, 512 KB to 4 MB RAM, a 1.44 MB 3.5 inch floppy, optional 20 or 40 MB hard disk, VGA 640 × 480 and three ISA slots. A period brochure is dated October 1989. The Echos 48 Color Plus belongs to the Echos 40 notebook family. The Color Plus version appeared in 1995 with a 486DX4/100, 4 MB standard RAM with expansion options, a 540 MB IDE disk, 10.4 inch active matrix TFT at 640 × 480 and 1 MB VRAM. Period test configurations also used 16 MB RAM. The notebook includes a trackball, 1.44 MB floppy, two PCMCIA slots, serial, parallel, VGA, PS/2 and docking connector. In only a few years the conventional desktop 286 had evolved into a full colour portable computer.
