Sharp MZ-2800 (MZ-2861), Japan, 1987. An unusual hybrid of two computer generations, it combines an 8 MHz Intel 80286 with a 6 MHz Z80B. The Z80 maintains an MZ-2500 compatible mode, while the 80286 enables 16 bit operation, including period MS-DOS software. Documented MZ-2861 configurations have 768 KB of system memory, with further expansion used for features such as RAM disks. Two built in 3.5 inch drives, FM sound, colour graphics and an optional 80287 arithmetic coprocessor complete the system.
