Sharp MZ-80K, Japonsko, 1978. Jeden z prvních osobních počítačů Sharp byl uveden v prosinci 1978 za 198 000 jenů a v Japonsku se zpočátku prodával jako semikit vyžadující část montáže. Používá Sharp LH0080 kompatibilní se Z80 na 2 MHz, standardně 20 KB RAM rozšiřitelných přímo na desce až na 48 KB a 4 KB monitorové ROM. V jedné skříni spojuje CPU, 10palcový monochromatický CRT, maticovou klávesnici a kazetový magnetofon s přenosem 1200 bit/s. Obraz zobrazuje 40 × 25 znaků, grafika je tvořena bohatou sadou předdefinovaných znaků a semigrafiky. BASIC není uložen v ROM, ale načítá se z kazety, stejně jako assembler nebo jiné jazyky. Sharp tuto koncepci později označoval jako Clean Computer. Vestavěný reproduktor nabízí jednoduchý zvuk přibližně ve třech oktávách.

Sharp MZ-80K, Japan, 1978. One of Sharp's earliest personal computers was introduced in December 1978 for ¥198,000 and initially sold in Japan as a semi kit requiring some assembly. It uses a Sharp LH0080 compatible with the Z80 at 2 MHz, normally 20 KB RAM expandable on the board to 48 KB and 4 KB monitor ROM. A single enclosure combines CPU, 10 inch monochrome CRT, matrix keyboard and cassette recorder operating at 1200 bit/s. The display shows 40 × 25 characters, with graphics created from an extensive predefined character and semigraphics set. BASIC is not stored in ROM but loaded from cassette, as are assembler and other languages. Sharp later described this approach as the Clean Computer concept. A built in speaker provides simple sound over roughly three octaves.
