Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Anglie, 1982 až 1989. Vývoj rodiny začíná původním 48K se Z80A kolem 3,5 MHz, pokračuje vzhledově modernizovaným Spectrum+ a rozšířeným 128K s 128 KB RAM a zvukem AY. Amstradův šedý +2 přidal vestavěný magnetofon, +3 přešel na 3″ disketu a černé +2A/+2B převzaly novější architekturu +3, ale ponechaly kazetovou mechaniku. Základní obraz 256 × 192 zůstával kvůli kompatibilitě. Během sedmi let se tedy zásadně změnila paměť, zvuk, klávesnice i úložiště, zatímco obrovská knihovna Spectrum softwaru zůstávala hlavní spojnicí celé řady.

Sinclair ZX Spectrum, England, 1982 to 1989. The family begins with the original 48K using a Z80A at about 3.5 MHz, continues through the Spectrum+ and reaches the 128K with 128 KB RAM and AY sound. Amstrad's grey +2 adds a built in cassette deck, the +3 moves to a 3 inch floppy drive and the black +2A/+2B adopt the newer +3 derived architecture while retaining tape storage. The basic 256 × 192 display remains for compatibility. Memory, sound, keyboard and storage change substantially while the Spectrum software library remains the common thread.
